It Felt Soft
July 2021

"It Felt Soft" was created during lockdown, a time when I found myself reflecting deeply on themes of beauty, desire, and the ethereal. Using a soft, feminine color palette, I wanted to evoke a sense of dreaminess and detachment—where nothing feels fully grounded. The piece is filled with delicate florals, butterflies, snakes, and eyes, all floating within a background of pink, fluffy clouds. Drawing on the aesthetic of classical art, I aimed to capture a materialistic attachment to beauty, the lust that we often feel for what is fleeting, and the dreamlike quality of feminine allure. The butterflies and snakes represent the duality of life—fragile yet dangerous, innocent yet knowing—while the eyes suggest both vulnerability and the watchful gaze of longing. In this piece, I wanted to explore how beauty can captivate us, how it entices and consumes, leaving us in a haze of desire and reverence.
