Playing - Out of Perspective

"Playing - Out of Perspective"
"Playing - Out of Perspective" blends self-portraiture with an exploration of color combinations, capturing the complex experience of body dysmorphia. The figure, a woman who is conventionally attractive, is rendered in unconventional colors—blue skin, purple tones, and yellow-green hair—reflecting the sense of alienation and disconnection that often accompanies dysmorphia. While the outward appearance may be seen as beautiful, the altered colors express the internal distortion, where even an attractive figure can feel foreign or distorted. The out-of-perspective elements in the composition reflect how our self-perception can warp reality, making us feel detached from our own bodies. This piece marked a pivotal learning moment for me as I challenged traditional color palettes and poses, shifting away from realism to embrace a more abstract, emotionally resonant portrayal. "Playing - Out of Perspective" is about the tension between external appearance and internal experience, and the alienation that can arise when the two don’t align.
